10+ Things to do for adrenaline junkies

If drinking black coffee gives you enough adrenaline for the day, this list might not be a good choice for you. However, if it can’t get high or fast enough for you, you are in the right place. Dolgellau is in the center of many attractions that make your heart race a little faster.

1-6 Zip World Adventures

Zip World Adventures is THE place for adrenaline junkies. There are 3 locations with a lot of fun for all ages.

PENRHYN QUARRY - Bethesda Approx. 1,5 hours drive

LLechwedd - Blaenau Ffestiniog Approx. 30 minute drive

  • 3. Titan “Introducing Titan, Slate Caverns’ new tour and zip experience! Soak up the former slate mine’s rich history on an exciting overground guided tour along the glorious Welsh countryside. Embark on a journey through time in one of our ex-army trucks, and learn all there is to know about the slate caverns from one of our experts, before being dropped off at our zipping platform. You’ll then fly at speeds of up to 70mph along 2 exhilarating zip lines, with unparalleled views of the Snowdonia mountain range. FFOREST - Betws-y-Coed Approx. 1 hour drive

7. Mountain biking trails

Coed y Brenin (approx 15 min drive) "The UK’s first mountain bike trail centre, Coed y Brenin has miles of exceptional singletrack for experienced riders and great family trails for all abilities."

Climachx Trails (approx 20 min drive) "The full route is a 15km round trip, with 9km of built single track with compressions and whoops, rock slab drop offs and some beautiful flowing turns. The last descent is one of the longest in Wales and features rocky jumps. The finale is a sequence of eight huge berms following quickly after each other. Hit them high enough and fast enough and they ride really well, but don't look down!"

Bwlch Nant yr Arian (approx 1 hour drive) "Bwlch Nant yr Arian Visitor Centre sits at the head of a dramatic valley and has commanding views of Cardigan Bay and the Cambrian Mountains. It is well-known for its long established tradition of daily feeding of red kites, Wales’s National Bird of Prey.

There is a range of trails for walkers, mountain bikers, and runners which are waymarked from the visitor centre. There is also a skills park with a purpose-built track for mountain bikers to practice their technique."

8. Mountain biking downhill

Dyfi Bike Park (approx 20 min drive) - "650 acre bike park set in the heart of Dyfi forest - big mountain trails hand-crafted by Dan Atherton."

Antur Stiniog MT (approx 30 min drive) - "14 fantastic gravity fed mountain biking trails for all ability of rider from novice to world cup racer."

9. White Water Rafting

National White Water Centre near Bala (approx. 30 min drive)

"The National White Water Centre offer fantastic white water adventures on natural rapids on the River Tryweryn, located in Snowdonia National Park. Set in stunning Welsh hills, the dam controlled River Tryweryn has high flows ideal for exhilarating white water activities throughout the year. The River Tryweryn is open for white water adventures any day the Llyn Celyn reservoir is releasing, offering on average 200 days a year of reliable and impressive white water."

10. Canyoning

(Extreme) Canyoning with Adrenaline Adicts near Maentwrog (approx. 25 min drive)

"If adrenaline action is what you are looking for then our canyoning activity will certainly give you that heart pounding feeling. Our canyon is extreme with 35 Foot jumps, Free falling from waterfalls and a Crazy Zipwire from the top of a Waterfall. Canyoning is one of the Ultimate things to do in Wales and should be on everyone's outdoor adventure list. So are you ready for an extreme adrenaline adventure?"

11. Rock Climbing & Abseiling

Snowdonia Adventure Activities near Barmouth (approx. 15 min drive)
